The Communications Engineering department of the University
of Málaga (UMA) consists of more than 130 people (50 academic
staff and 80 research fellows and research assistants) working in the
signal processing and communications fields.
Most of our teaching
activity is carried out at the Faculty
of Telecommunication Engineering of the UMA, where the department
collaborates in its undergraduate degrees, masters and Ph. D. program,
whose quality is recognized by the National Agency for Quality Assessment
and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA).
The department pursues an
intense research activity in multiple information and communications
technology areas. The wide range of research topics includes: design and
integration of devices in photonic and microwave technologies, digital
transmission techniques for different channels (optical, mobile, power
line and acoustic), digital signal processing for communications and
multimedia applications, automatic testing systems, location and
positioning systems, network optimization and management, network
security, etc. These activities are organized by the research groups: the
Communications Engineering group, the Application of Information and
Communications Technologies group and the Digital Image Processing in
Radiology group.
The above research activities and the technology
transfer process are accomplished through collaborations, projects and
consortia with numerous national and international research institutions
and companies.
