Profesor Titular de Universidad

Ingeniero de Telecomunicación
Sergio Fortes graduated in Telecommunications Engineering in 2011, in the fields of Telematics and Communications, from the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Malaga. His master thesis was performed during a six-month stay at the Institute of Communication and Navigation (Institut für Kommunikation und Navigation), of the German Space Agency (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen, Bavaria. Between 2009 and 2010, he spent six months in the Toulouse headquarters of the French Space Agency (CNES), where he was responsible for implementing a link layer simulator GmPRS protocol for the department of Space Telecommunications Systems. In June of 2011, he joined the European Space Agency (ESA) as a Young Graduate Trainee of the Iris programme for aeronautical satellite communications. In this role, he was responsible for the development of technical analysis in various fields of link layer protocols and network (ARQ, compression, encapsulation, mobility, etc), information security and Interference/Jamming. After his experience ESA, he joined Avanti Communications as Satellite Communications Engineer leading research projects in collaboration with the European Space Agency, European Comission and other customers/partners. Currently, he is a researcher in the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Malaga working on innovative SON (Self-Organizing Networks) and artificial intelligence techniques for research projects with the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, European Commission, Alcatel-Lucent and other partners. His fields of interest focus on SON, satellite system engineering, satellite communications, telecommunication protocols, satellite antennas, security and intelligent systems. Specialties Satellite communications, telecommunication protocols, aeronautical communications, protocol simulation, antennas, ground segment, security, SON, artificial intelligence.
